What Makes AutoMynded Different
Most car-maintenance apps were built before EVs went mainstream and actively get electric vehicle maintenance wrong — suggesting oil changes on a Tesla, recommending spark plugs on a Chevy Bolt, missing the 12V auxiliary battery that's the most common EV failure point. AutoMynded is powertrain-aware. When you add a vehicle, you select its powertrain type (Gas, Diesel, Hybrid, Plug-in Hybrid, Battery Electric, or Fuel Cell), and every AI diagnosis, every maintenance interval, and every "what to tell your mechanic" summary is generated with awareness of what your vehicle actually has — and what it doesn't.

The severity rating is guidance, not a promise. Anytime AutoMynded says Urgent — or anytime you see a warning light you don't recognize — pull over to a safe location and contact a mechanic or dealer technician.

How does powertrain-aware AI diagnosis work?
When you add a vehicle, you select its powertrain. Every AI diagnosis you run for that vehicle includes the powertrain context as the first thing the AI sees — so it knows whether to suggest checking spark plugs (gas) or the 12V auxiliary battery (EV), whether to recommend an oil change (ICE / hybrid / PHEV) or never (BEV / FCEV), and which warning lights make sense for which system. Snap a photo, optionally type a one-liner ("started making this noise yesterday," "saw this fluid this morning"), tap Diagnose, and AutoMynded returns a severity rating, a plain-English explanation, and a paragraph you can send to your mechanic.
Is AutoMynded a substitute for a mechanic?
No. AutoMynded is an organizational tool that helps you understand what's going on with your vehicle and prepare to either address it yourself or hire a professional. The diagnoses, severity ratings, and DIY hints are not a guarantee of outcome. AutoMynded does not replace a hands-on inspection by a qualified mechanic, dealer technician, or EV service center. Always consult a licensed pro for any work involving the high-voltage traction battery, brake systems, fuel and exhaust systems on ICE vehicles, airbags, structural elements, or anything you are not fully comfortable doing yourself.
What's the free tier limit?
Free users get 5 AI photo diagnoses and 5 AI receipt extractions per calendar month — counted independently — and can add 1 vehicle. Counters reset at the start of each month. The History tab is unlimited for both Free and Pro users — once a diagnosis or service entry is generated, you can re-read it as often as you want without using another monthly call.
If I get an error mid-diagnosis, do I lose a free call?
No. The free-tier counter only decrements when you tap Save on the diagnosis result — not when the AI call returns. If the analysis errors out (no internet, AI service unavailable, response truncated) before you see a result, or if you discard the result without saving, your monthly count is unaffected.
What if I have multiple vehicles?
Free users can add 1 vehicle. Pro users can add unlimited vehicles. Each vehicle has its own service history, maintenance schedule, mileage log, and (for EV / PHEV / HEV) charging and range logs. Switch between active vehicles from the Vehicles tab — the active vehicle drives every Capture flow until you change it.
How do EV-specific features work?
If at least one of your vehicles is a Battery Electric, Plug-in Hybrid, or Hybrid, AutoMynded shows EV-specific surfaces — Charging Session Log, Battery Range Tracking with a trend chart, and OTA Software Update Log. ICE-only households never see these surfaces. Charging session logging is free for everyone; AutoMynded never restricts the basics of EV ownership behind a paywall.
How does the receipt-capture flow work?
Tap Log Receipt in the Capture tab, snap a photo of a paper or digital service receipt, and AutoMynded sends the photo to Gemini Vision. The AI extracts the shop name, date, mileage at service, individual line items with cost and category, and total. You see a confirmation screen with editable pre-filled fields — fix anything the AI got wrong, then tap Save. The entry lands in History under the active vehicle. Save is what commits the entry and decrements your free-tier counter; if you discard, no counter is used.
What's the Annual AI Summary?
A Pro-only feature. From a vehicle's detail screen, tap Generate Annual Summary for a given year. AutoMynded sends only your aggregated yearly totals (total miles, total spend, top categories, top shops, total diagnoses by severity) — never individual records — to Gemini, which returns a 2–3 paragraph plain-English narrative useful for tax filings, insurance discussions, or just understanding your year. The summary is cached on the vehicle record so re-reading it doesn't run a new AI call.
How does GPS-tracked mileage work?
Pro feature. From the Capture tab, tap Log Mileage and choose "Track with GPS." Permission for location access is requested only the first time, and AutoMynded uses the When in Use scope only — your location is read while a trip is actively in progress, never in the background. End the trip when you arrive, and the route, distance, and (using the IRS standard mileage rate from Firebase Remote Config) deductible amount are saved to your trip log. Free users can always enter trips manually.
How is my data stored? Is it in the cloud?
No cloud. All your vehicles, diagnoses, photos, service history, mileage trips, charging sessions, and range readings are stored locally on your device using SwiftData. Photos are stored in AutoMynded's app sandbox. We do not run a server that stores any of your data. AutoMynded does not currently sync between iPhone and iPad — each device has its own local store.
Can I use AutoMynded without AI?
Manual service entry, mileage logging, charging logging, the maintenance schedule, and the History tab all work without AI — you can run AutoMynded as a pure manual logbook if you prefer. The AI features (Diagnose, Receipt Extract, Annual Summary) all require AI consent. Toggle "AI Features" off in Settings at any time to revoke consent; toggle it back on to use AI features again.
How do I save or share a Diagnosis Result?
Tap the Share button on any Diagnosis Result to open the native share sheet — text the result to a friend, email it to your mechanic, save it to Files, or print it. The "What to tell your mechanic" section also has its own copy and share controls so you can send just that paragraph if that's all the mechanic needs.
How do I manage my subscription?
Go to your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions to view, change, or cancel your AutoMynded Pro subscription. You can also tap "Restore Purchases" in the AutoMynded Settings tab to sync your subscription status with Apple.
I purchased Pro but it's not showing up
Open AutoMynded, go to Settings, and tap Restore Purchases. This will sync your subscription status with Apple. If the issue persists, contact us below.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Uninstalling AutoMynded removes all locally stored data — vehicles, diagnoses, photos, service history, mileage trips, and charging logs. Because AutoMynded does not back data up to a server, this is permanent. We recommend exporting any records you want to keep (using the Share button on individual diagnoses or service entries) before uninstalling.
