Privacy Policy

PetCents ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by Pearlcity LLC, respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains what data PetCents collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you when you use the PetCents application.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Pet profiles: Name, species (dog / cat / other), breed, sex, birthdate or approximate age, weight, photo, and free-text notes. Stored locally on your device.
• Health log entries: Date, optional weight, free-text notes, and optional photo per entry. Stored locally on your device.
• Vaccinations: Name, date administered, next due date, and notes. Stored locally on your device.
• Medications: Name, dosage, frequency (once/twice/thrice daily, weekly, monthly), start date, optional end date, and notes. Stored locally on your device.
• Symptom triage input: The text description you write of your pet's symptoms and an optional photo of a visible issue. When you submit a triage session, this text and photo are sent to Google's Gemini AI service along with your pet's species, breed, sex, age, and weight.
• Monthly check-in answers: Energy level (1–5), appetite (1–5), optional weight, and free-text concerns. When you generate a summary, these answers and your pet's species/breed/age are sent to Google's Gemini AI service.

Automatically Collected Information

• Free tier usage count: The number of AI symptom triage sessions used this month (out of 3) is stored locally to enforce the free tier limit. Resets at the start of each calendar month.
• Subscription status: Managed by Apple's StoreKit framework. We do not see or store your payment information.
• Device information: Device model, operating system version, and PetCents app version may be referenced for compatibility and troubleshooting. Not transmitted to a server.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To generate a structured Vet Visit Prep Sheet from your typed symptoms and optional photo, including categories of concern, urgency level (routine / call vet / emergency), and questions to ask your vet.
• To produce breed-specific care tips keyed to your pet's breed and life stage. Tips are cached locally for one week to avoid repeated AI calls for the same pet.
• To synthesize a one-paragraph monthly check-in summary based on the energy, appetite, weight, and concerns you record.
• To schedule local push notifications on iOS for vaccinations and medication doses you've added. These notifications are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device by Apple's UserNotifications framework. PetCents on macOS does not currently fire local push notifications.
• To manage your subscription status via Apple StoreKit.
• To improve app performance and respond to support requests.

3. Third-Party Services

Google Gemini AI (via Firebase AI Logic)

When you use AI features, the following data is sent to Google's Gemini AI service for processing:

• Symptom text you typed and the optional photo you attached (when you start a triage session)
• Your pet's species, breed, sex, age, weight, current medications, recent weight history, and notes (provided as context for triage)
• Your pet's breed and life stage (when you load breed-specific tips)
• Energy, appetite, optional weight, and concerns text (when you generate a monthly check-in summary)

Your pet's name is never sent to Google. Your location is never sent to Google. Google processes the data we do send according to their Privacy Policy and Generative AI Terms of Service. We do not retain copies of your AI requests on our infrastructure.

Firebase

Used by PetCents for Remote Config (managing the Gemini model identifier and feature flags) and for the Firebase AI Logic SDK that routes your AI requests to Google Gemini. Firebase App Check verifies that requests come from a genuine PetCents app instance. No personal user data is stored in Firebase by PetCents.

Apple StoreKit

Subscription purchases, restorations, and management are handled entirely by Apple through StoreKit 2. Payment processing is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. Pearlcity LLC never sees or stores your payment information.

4. Data Storage & Security

• All your pet profiles, health log entries, vaccinations, medications, triage sessions, monthly check-ins, and breed-tip cache are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework.
• Pet photos and symptom photos are stored as JPEG data inside PetCents's app sandbox, accessible only to PetCents.
• AI requests are transmitted securely via HTTPS through Google's Firebase AI Logic SDK.
• PetCents does not operate any servers that store your personal pet, health, or care data.

5. Data Sent to AI (Explicit Disclosure)

When you use AI features, the following data is sent to Google's Gemini AI service for processing:

• The symptom text and optional photo you submit when starting a triage session.
• The pet context for that triage: species, breed, sex, age, weight, current medications, recent weight history, and notes.
• The pet's breed and life stage when you load breed-specific tips.
• The energy, appetite, optional weight, and concerns text when you generate a monthly check-in summary.

This data is:

• Sent only when you explicitly submit a triage session, generate a check-in summary, or load breed tips for a pet.
• Not stored permanently by PetCents or Pearlcity LLC on any server.
• Subject to Google's data processing policies once received.

You can revoke AI data consent at any time in the app's Settings screen. Revoking consent disables all AI features. Pet profiles, the health log, vaccinations and medications, and reminder scheduling continue to work normally without AI.

6. Data Retention

• All your pet, health, schedule, and AI session data is stored locally on your device. Deleting the PetCents app removes all data.
• You can delete individual records (a pet, a triage session, a vaccination, a medication, a health log entry, or a check-in) from within the app at any time.
• Pearlcity LLC does not retain any copies of your pet, health, or care data on any server.

7. Your Rights and Choices

• Revoke AI data consent: Toggle "AI Features" off in Settings at any time. The app continues to work without AI.
• Delete individual records: Delete any pet, triage session, vaccination, medication, health log entry, or monthly check-in from within the app at any time.
• Delete all data: Uninstall PetCents to remove all locally stored data.
• Manage notifications: Adjust or revoke notification permission in your device's Settings > Notifications > PetCents.

PetCents is designed for adults responsible for pets in their care. The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the updated policy and updating the effective date at the top of this page. Your continued use of PetCents after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
